Finland vs Switzerland predictions: Swiss can end Finnish hopes

&w=707&quality=100)
- Switzerland are unbeaten in their last four matches against Finland
- Finland have won just one of their last four fixtures
- Recommended bet: Switzerland to win
Switzerland have made two appearances at the Women’s Euros - failing to advance beyond the group phase in 2017 and 2022 - but they will be attempting to make history by claiming a place in the quarter-finals on home soil.
The Swiss were the second lowest ranked team in the tournament, but they competed well in their opening two matches - losing 2-1 to Norway and winning 2-0 against Iceland - and need just one more point to reach the knockout rounds.
They sit second on the group - on the same three-point tally as third-placed Finland, who opened with a 1-0 win over Iceland before losing 2-1 to Norway.
The Finns were Women’s Euro semi-finalists in 2005 but have been less successful in recent times and bowed out of Euro 2022 with three straight defeats.
Team news

Finland head coach Marko Saloranta is expected to persist with Rosengard forward Oona Sevenius, who made a first start of the tournament in the weekend fixture against Norway and responded with a goal in a harsh 2-1 defeat.
Saloranta saw his team perform creditably against the Norwegians and could be tempted to keep changes to a minimum.
Switzerland head coach Pia Sundhage may be tempted to stick with most of the players responsible for Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Iceland.
However, the 65-year-old Swede may be tempted to hand a promotion to 19-year-old Lyon striker Leila Wandeler, who came off the bench at the weekend and delivered the assist for Alayah Pilgrim’s 90th minute goal.
The stats
Switzerland have started the scoring in each of their last three fixtures.
Three of the last six matches involving Switzerland have featured at least four goals.
Finland have sustained two 2-1 losses within their last three games.
Finland have failed to score in each of their last two matches against Switzerland.
Prediction
Switzerland arrived at Euro 2025 with fairly modest expectations but they have been inspired by playing on home soil and can reach the knockout rounds in style by defeating Finland at Stade de Geneve.
The Swiss took a lot of positives from their 2-1 loss to Norway because they played front foot football and won the shot count 17 to eight.
They showed a more clinical side in their 2-0 success over Iceland and can secure another maximum against the Finns, who have lost four of their last five matches on the Women’s Euros stage.
