Everton and Tottenham concluded their Women’s Super League campaigns with a point apiece after a 1-1 draw at Walton Hall Park.
Veatriki Sarri’s early free-kick put the Toffees ahead and the hosts might have extended their advantage, but Spurs ultimately deserved the point secured for them by Drew Spence’s equaliser.
Everton finish the season in eighth place, three spots and four points ahead of Spurs, who made it 11 games without a victory in all competitions dating back to a 3-2 win over relegated Crystal Palace in January.
Everton began on the front foot and Toni Payne shot over before the hosts took the lead in the 11th minute.
Ella Morris was booked for a foul on Honoka Hayashi 25 yards out and Sarri’s quick thinking caught out Lize Kop, who got a hand to the free-kick but could not keep it out.
Everton nearly made it two, but Martina Fernandez’s header from Justine Vanhaevermaet’s cross bounced off the crossbar and behind.
The half-hour mark saw Spurs find the equaliser as Olivia Holdt broke away down the right and sent in a low cross that was pushed out by Courtney Brosnan, but only to Spence arriving at the far post.
Kelly Gago tried to find the early goal in the second half but, after twisting and turning in the box, sent her shot just past a post.
Spurs then had a great chance to take the lead when Bethany England pulled the ball back for Jessica Naz in the area, but she could only shoot straight at Brosnan.
The game rather petered out thereafter, although there were final appearances for Everton for Rikke Madsen and Karolina Olesen, two of the players along with Maren Mjelde and Lauren Thomas who it was announced this week will be leaving the club.
Aurora Galli also came on as a substitute for her first Toffees match since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury on the opening day of the season.
