The Europa League play-offs conclude on Thursday evening, with eight second-leg ties taking place as the 16 sides in action bid to make the round of 16 of UEFA’s supporting competition.
AZ Alkmaar hold a 4-1 lead on Galatasaray while Fenerbahce are also three goals to the good against Anderlecht, but the other six match-ups are evenly-poised with plenty of room for change.
The play-offs feature the teams who finished between ninth and 24th in the league phase and we have a correct-score prediction for each of the second legs.
Bodo/Glimt vs FC Twente (Thursday, 5.45pm)
FC Twente hold a 2-1 lead ahead of the return trip to Bodo/Glimt but the Eredivisie outfit may be able to avoid defeat to send themselves through.
FC Twente have lost only two of their nine games in Europe this season, which includes draws at Manchester United, Nice and Olympiacos, and Bodo/Glimt could be at a disadvantage with their domestic season not set to start until March.
Score prediction: Bodo/Glimt 1-1 FC Twente
FCSB vs PAOK Salonika (Thursday, 5.45pm)
FCSB came from behind to win the first leg in Greece 2-1 and while they profited from a first-half red card for PAOK Salonika, they can complete the job with a home victory in Bucharest.
FCSB’s only defeat in their last 10 competitive games came at home to Manchester United in their final game of the league phase and they have three clean sheets in five European home outings.
Score prediction: FCSB 1-0 PAOK Salonika
Galatasaray vs AZ Alkmaar (Thursday, 5.45pm)
This looks like a dead rubber after AZ’s emphatic 4-1 win at home in the first leg but Galatasaray excel on their own patch and may claim some compensation in an entertaining encounter.
Gala have seen both teams score in all nine of their Europa matches this season and they took 10 points from four home games in the league phase, with a 3-2 win against Tottenham the highlight.
Score prediction: Galatasaray 3-2 AZ Alkmaar
Roma vs Porto (Thursday, 5.45pm)
This is delicately-poised after a 1-1 draw in Portugal but Roma, having played the final 20 minutes with 10 men, will fancy they can complete the task at the Stadio Olimpico.
Claudio Ranieri has completely transformed Roma from what they were at the beginning of the season and they have lost only two of their last 14 matches, winning seven of their last eight at home.
Score prediction: Roma 2-0 Porto
Ajax vs Union Saint-Gilloise (Thursday, 8pm)
&w=707&quality=100)
Comfortable 2-0 winners in the first leg in Belgium, Eredivisie leaders Ajax should wrap this tie up with the minimum of fuss.
The Dutch side have won five on the spin, keeping three clean sheets, while visitors Union Saint-Gilloise have lost three of their four away games in Europe this season.
Score prediction: Ajax 2-0 Union Saint-Gilloise
Anderlecht vs Fenerbahce (Thursday, 8pm)
Fenerbahce look in complete control of this tie following their 3-0 win on home soil last Thursday and, unbeaten in 14 matches, they can pick up a positive result at Anderlecht.
The Belgian side struggle for consistency, losing four and drawing one of their last eight matches, and may already have one eye on Sunday’s league visit from Union Saint-Gilloise.
Score prediction: Anderlecht 1-1 Fenerbahce
Real Sociedad vs FC Midtjylland (Thursday, 8pm)
Real Sociedad were able to carve out a 2-1 win on their trip to Danish side FC Midtjylland and it should be easy work for them at their beloved Reale Arena.
La Real won 3-0 against Dynamo Kiev either side of 2-0 victories over Ajax and PAOK in their final three home games in the league phase while FC Midtjylland suffered 2-0 reverses at FCSB and Porto.
Score prediction: Real Sociedad 2-0 FC Midtjylland
Viktoria Plzen vs Ferencvaros (Thursday, 8pm)
Viktoria Plzen will be full of optimism despite losing the opening leg away at Ferencvaros 1-0, a match in which they dominated possession and won the shot count 17-12.
The Czech side defeated Real Sociedad and Anderlecht at home in the league phase while they pushed Manchester United close in a 2-1 defeat. Ferencvaros, meanwhile, lost three of their four road trips.
Score prediction: Viktoria Plzen 2-1 Ferencvaros
