Doncaster powered to the top of League Two with a comfortable 3-0 win over Colchester.

Goals from Harry Clifton, Jordan Gibson and Patrick Kelly saw Rovers move four points clear of fourth-placed Walsall with two games to play.

Rovers took the lead after nine minutes with Clifton starting and finishing the attacking move. After a crossfield pass on half way, he raced into the box to meet a Luke Molyneux cross at the back post and turn home.

Molyneux made Rovers’ second on 22 minutes, racing from just inside the half and dancing past several challenges before sliding in Gibson, who drilled through the legs of keeper Matt Macey.

Doncaster managed the game superbly for the remainder of the half but Colchester rallied after the break.

They struggled for opportunities however, with their best chance seeing Owura Edwards drawing an excellent save from Ted Sharman-Lowe.

Edwards was then sent off on 80 minutes after receiving a second yellow card.

Doncaster rounded off the win in added time when substitute Kelly pounced after Ethan Ennis saw a shot blocked on the line by Mandela Egbo.
