Notts County all-but guaranteed their place in the League Two play-offs courtesy of a 3-1 victory at Harrogate.

The Magpies ended their four-match winless run thanks to Conor Grant’s second-half brace, leaving them fifth in the table and six points clear of eighth-placed Colchester.

County took the lead in the 33rd minute when George Abbott fired home after David McGoldrick’s initial effort had been blocked.

But Harrogate got back on terms within four minutes. Goalkeeper James Belshaw sent the ball long and Jack Muldoon brought the ball down on his chest, flicked it over the head of a defender and beat Alex Bass.

The visitors edged back in front six minutes into the second half, Grant applying the finishing touch after Belshaw had denied Alassana Jatta at point-blank range.

They then wrapped things up with 76 minutes on the clock as Grant squeezed an effort in at the near post after getting on the end of Kellan Gordon’s cross from the right.
