- Inter have won just two of their last eight away league games

Como or draw double chance

Inter Milan need a minor miracle if they are to be crowned Serie A champions for a second season running, with them requiring victory in their final game at Como while also hoping leaders Napoli slip-up at home to Cagliari.

Inter are only a point behind Napoli but the leaders will be expected to make home advantage count while the Nerazzurri face a tricky trip to Como.

Simone Inzaghi’s side do still have a Champions League final on the horizon against Paris Saint-Germain to look forward to, but they only have themselves to blame for their undoings in Serie A.

Inter have dropped points in four of their last seven league games to relinquish top spot to Napoli and they have been lacking consistency away from the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Meanwhile, Como have had a fantastic first season back in Serie A with manager Cesc Fabregas guiding them to a top-half finish.

The hosts are assured of finishing 10th and, on an eight-game unbeaten run, they will be motivated to spoil the potential title party for Inter on Friday night.

Team news

Como are missing their injured top scorer Assane Diao — who has netted eight Serie A goals since joining in January — while Alberto Dossena and Sergi Roberto are also sidelined.

Chief centre-back Edoardo Goldaniga also misses out through suspension, while goalkeeper Pepe Reina will hope to make the final appearance of his career after confirming his plans to retire.

Inter captain Lautaro Martinez and the match-winner from their Champions League semi-final, Davide Frattesi, are both fitness concerns.

French international Benjamin Pavard recently returned to training and could be involved but Valentin Carboni and Giacomo De Pieri are out.

The stats

Como have lost only one of their last 10 Serie A matches, winning six of their last seven.

The hosts are unbeaten in six home league games, which includes a 2-1 victory over Napoli.

Inter have won just two of their last eight away matches in Serie A, losing three times during that sequence.

The Nerazzurri have kept only three clean sheets in their last 11 Serie A matches.

Como have failed to score in only one of their 18 home league games this term, with both teams netting in eight of their last 10 at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Four of Inter’s last five league games have gone under 2.5 goals.

Prediction

Inter need to win to give themselves any hope of securing another Serie A title, but they may struggle to overcome a dogged Como outfit.

Fabregas has worked wonders in charge of Como and they come into this encounter unbeaten in eight, having won six of their last seven matches.

With Inter having a point to prove on their travels — they have won only two of their last eight away outings — they look on the short side in the market.

Como have defeated leaders Napoli 2-1 at home this season, while also beating Roma and Torino on their own patch, and they are sure to have strong support in what is the final outing of the season.
