Club Brugge vs Juventus predictions: Draw kings Juve to clock up another stalemate
- Club Brugge are on 10 points after six rounds
- Juventus moved to 11 points by beating Manchester City 2-0
- Recommended bet: Draw
Club Brugge and Juventus are within touching distance of a place in the knockout stages of the 2024-25 Champions League and will not want to make any mistakes this close to the League Phase finishing line.
Team news
Club Brugge have been boosted by the return of right-back Joaquin Seys, out for a month with a hamstring injury.
Hugo Vetlesen is likely to replace Andreas Skov Olsen, who joined Wolfsburg last week.
Juventus boss Thiago Motta is sweating over the health of Weston McKennie and Kenan Yildiz, who both limped away from their weekend 2-0 win over AC Milan.
Motta was already missing a trio of defenders — Juan Cabal, Danilo and Bremer — plus midfielder Francisco Conceicao.
The stats
Brugge are unbeaten in 18 matches in all competitions, while they have lost just one of their last 12 home European games.
Nicky Hayen's men are on a five-match winning streak and have scored at least two goals in each of their last 11 matches.
Brugge are the top scorers in Belgium with 51 goals scored in 22 matches.
Juventus are fifth in Serie A — yet that division's only unbeaten side. They have won eight and drawn the other 13 of their 21 league fixtures.
Motta's side have not lost an away game since a 2-1 Coppa Italia reverse at Lazio last April.
Prediction
This fixture falls at the most inconvenient time for Juventus, three days after their grudge match against AC Milan (which they won 2-0) and four days before they visit leaders Napoli.
To that end, and with a few too many injuries for comfort and their place in the knockout stages pretty much assured with 11 points on the board, this could easily turn into a cautious affair.
Certainly Brugge can ill-afford to go gung-ho and risk losing with a thankless trip to Manchester City to round off their League Phase. They, too, would probably settle for a point which would take the Belgians to 11 points and virtually a place in the play-offs.
The Belgians are enjoying an exceptional campaign as they take an 18-game unbeaten run into this game.
Good enough to beat Aston Villa and Sporting Lisbon throughout the campaign, they were not disgraced in their 3-1 loss at AC Milan where they had to play over an hour with 10 men.
Juventus are Serie A's draw experts this season with 13 stalemates in their 21 league games while they have also shared the points in their last two Champions League road trips, at Villa and Lille.
At this stage of the competition with the stakes at their highest and plenty of jeopardy, expect a tight game to end all square.
