Manchester City are favorites to win the Champions League for the first time in their history when they meet Inter Milan in Saturday's final.

Having already seen off some tough opposition along the way, City have been heavily tipped to lift the trophy in Istanbul.

Ahead of the clash with Inter, which could see Pep Guardiola's men complete the Treble, we take a look back at their route to the final.

Group stage

City emerged from Group G unbeaten but they dropped points on two occasions.

Starting with a 4-0 win at eventual Europa League winners Sevilla, they then beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 and Copenhagen 5-0 in successive home matches.

The Danes would hold City to a goalless draw in the reverse fixture before another 0-0 in Dortmund.

Guardiola's troops finished the group stage with a victory as they beat Sevilla 3-1 at the Etihad.

Round of 16

The first knockout round saw City drawn with RB Leipzig, who held them to a 1-1 draw in the first leg after Riyad Mahrez's opener was cancelled out by a second-half goal from Josko Gvardiol.

It was a different story in the return, in a match that was all about Erling Haaland.

Having found the net five times in the group stage, he had scored as many goals again by the 57th minute of this match.

He became only the third player to score five times in a Champions League game, following in the footsteps of Lionel Messi and Luiz Adriano.

Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin de Bruyne were also on the scoresheet as the Citizens won 7-0 to progress 8-1 on aggregate.

Quarter-finals

City would face German opposition once again as they took on Thomas Tuchel's Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.

The first leg of the tie saw them secure a statement win.

Goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Haaland sealed a 3-0 victory in a breathtakingly entertaining game.

It was Norwegian hotshot Haaland who opened the scoring in the second leg in Munich. Joshua Kimmich pulled one back from the spot but City ultimately won the tie 4-1.

Semi-finals

If any team seemed able to handle Guardiola's side, it was Champions League holders Real Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti's team seemed to be living up to that billing when they took the lead at the Bernabeu in the first leg after Vinicius Junior scored a sensational opener for Real Madrid.

Yet City found an equaliser in the second half through De Bruyne to draw 1-1 and put themselves in the driving seat for the return.

In a dominant display, a Silva brace had the hosts 2-0 up by half-time at the Etihad before further goals from Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez capped a brilliant performance.

With a 5-1 aggregate victory under their belt, it is little surprise City are now hot favourites to win the trophy.
