Carlisle kept their Football League survival hopes alive with a vital 2-0 victory over Morecambe at the Mazuma Stadium.
Goals from Georgie Kelly and Terell Thomas gave Carlisle back-to-back wins for the first time since March 2023 and saw Morecambe drop to the bottom of League Two.
After a nervy start Kelly gave the visitors the lead in the 28th minute when he was left unmarked in the box to head a right-wing cross past Harry Burgoyne from eight yards out.
Morecambe’s best chance of the first half fell for Hallam Hope in injury time but the striker somehow failed to hit the target when found by Tom White as he missed the target from three yards out.
Morecambe boss Derek Adams made four changes at the break and Yann Songo’o had an early chance to put the Shrimps level but volleyed over Max Taylor’s lay off from close range.
He was made to pay for the miss when Carlisle added a second on the hour when defender Thomas got into the end of a cross from the right and produced a great first touch and finish past Burgoyne to seal the three points.
Callum Jones forced Gabriel Breeze into a late save from a long-range effort but Morecambe’s defeat leaves them at the foot of the table with four games remaining.
