- Bristol City just outside the play-offs place in seventh in the table
- Norwich 11th after letting a two-goal lead slip in home loss to Sheffield Wednesday
- Recommended Bet: Bristol City to win

Bristol City extended their recent unbeaten run with a credible draw away at automatic promotion hopefuls Sheffield United, keeping themselves in touch with the play-off spots.

Norwich, meanwhile, were 2-0 up at half-time against Sheffield Wednesday, only to concede three second-half goals in the space of 12 minutes and lose 3-2, which means that they remain seven points adrift of sixth place and Championship play-off qualification.

Team news

Defenders Josh Campbell-Slowey, Luke McNally and Ross McCrorie were all injured and missed Bristol City’s trip to Sheffield United.

Norwich have an injury crisis which almost stretches into double figures ahead of their long journey to Ashton Gate.

Angus Gunn, George Long, Ben Chrisene, Lucien Mahovo, Liam Gibbs, Amankwah Forson, Marcelino Nunez, Lewis Dobbin and Matej Jurasek were all sidelined for the defeat to the Owls.

In-form American striker Josh Sargent started on the bench in midweek and could be restored to the starting line-up by head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup.

The stats

The Robins' draw with Sheffield United means that they are now unbeaten in their last six games, winning three and drawing three.

Norwich have only won two of their last 14 away matches, drawing six and losing six, while they have conceded in each of their last seven outings.

The Robins have won seven of their last 10 Championship games at Ashton Gate.

Prediction

Both of these teams have aspirations of being in the play-off mix, but at the moment it is only Bristol City’s hopes which are in any way realistic.

The Robins are in a nice run of form and will move up into that valuable sixth position in the Championship, should they win on Friday night.

Mark Sykes 90th minute equaliser at Bramall Lane on Tuesday kept their unbeaten run going and that result can be very much classified as a point won, against opposition aiming for automatic promotion.

Norwich could and should be not far behind them, but their home form has been letting them down in recent weeks, with the reversal against Wednesday meaning that they have only won one of their last five games at Carrow Road.

With their away form having not been convincing for some time, the Canaries already find the gap between themselves and the play-off positions to be considerable and that distance could be stretched further at Ashton Gate.
