- Each of the last seven meetings between these teams have featured three or more goals
- Four of Liverpool’s last six away league games have gone over 3.5 goals
- Recommended bet: Over 3.5 goals
Since being crowned Premier League champions with a 5-1 rout of Tottenham at the end of April, Liverpool’s levels have dropped and they are not sure to have things all their own way in Monday’s meeting trip to Brighton.
The Reds have been relentless this season but their last two league games have seen them lose 3-1 at Chelsea and throw away a two-goal lead to draw at home to Arsenal.
Arne Slot’s side have been easier to exploit defensively and, having only won two of their last six away league games, they look difficult to trust at the Amex Stadium.
Brighton, meanwhile, have taken seven points from their last three league matches to enhance their hopes of a top-eight finish and they boast plenty of attacking quality.
Liverpool have won both meetings against the Seagulls this season, triumphing 3-2 on the south coast in the EFL Cup and edging past them 2-1 in the Premier League at Anfield in November.
Team news
Injuries have been a big problem for Brighton throughout the season and, although matters have improved, they remain without James Milner, Solly March, Georginio Rutter and Ferdi Kadioglu.
Meanwhile, Lewis Dunk is a doubt having missed last weekend’s 2-0 win away at Wolves.
Liverpool’s only injury concern at present remains Joe Gomez, who has been sidelined since February, but it remains to be seen if the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold features in their final two games as Slot attempts to take him out the firing line.

The stats
Each of the last seven meetings between these teams have featured three or more goals, with both teams scoring in six of those matches.
Both teams have scored in eight of Brighton’s last 10 Premier League matches.
The Seagulls have lost only three of their 18 home league games this season.
Both teams have scored in five of Liverpool’s last six league fixtures and four of their last six away league games have gone over 3.5 goals.
Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah has scored 16 away goals in the Premier League this season, the joint-most in a single campaign in the competition’s history
Prediction
Champions Liverpool have lost 3-1 at Chelsea and drawn 2-2 with Arsenal since wrapping up the title and they could be involved in another free-scoring encounter with Brighton.
In three of Brighton’s last five league games, they have drawn 2-2 with Leicester, beaten West Ham 3-2 and lost 4-2 at Brentford, highlighting attacking quality but also suggesting that defensively there is big room for improvement.
Liverpool have the forward weapons to play their part but the Reds have recorded only two shut outs in eight league games and look happy to play with freedom.
Liverpool drew 2-2 at the Amex in the league last season, while their trip to the south coast in the EFL Cup earlier in the campaign saw them prevail 3-2.
