- Brentford have won their last four away games but lost four of their last five at home
- Everton let slip a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Manchester United at Goodison Park
- Recommended bet: Over 3.5 goals

Everton and Brentford shared a goalless draw at Goodison Park in November, but both teams are playing with far more confidence going into Wednesday's return fixture in west London.

The Bees thumped Leicester 4-0 on Friday, stretching their winning run on the road to four matches, although they have taken only one point from their last five home fixtures.

Everton, revitalised since the return of David Moyes, have pulled clear of the relegation zone in impressive fashion and they are targeting a fifth win in seven games on Wednesday.

Team news

Brentford will assess midfielder Christian Norgaard, who came off due to illness at half-time in Friday's 4-0 win at Leicester.

However, the Bees are still missing the injured Gustavo Nunes, Mathias Jensen, Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Joshua Dasilva, Sepp van den Berg and Igor Thiago.

Everton's Nathan Patterson, Youssef Chermiti and Jesper Lindstrom face fitness tests, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Dwight McNeil, Iliman Ndiaye, Orel Mangala, Seamus Coleman and Armando Broja remain sidelined.

Thomas Frank will be concerned that Brentford have not won any of their last six home games in all competitions.

The stats

Three of Brentford's four home defeats were by a 2-0 scoreline, while both teams have scored in just three of the Bees' last 10 league games.

The Bees have scored 29 goals in 13 Premier League fixtures at home this season.

Striker Beto has opened the scoring in Everton's last three league matches.

After winning three of their first 20 matches, the Toffees have had four victories in their last six and have been leading at half-time in each of their last six league wins.

Prediction

Everton had failed to score in nine of their previous 11 Premier League matches before racing into a 3-0 half-time lead against Tottenham last month.

The Toffees, who clung on for a 3-2 win in that game, have also beaten Brighton 1-0, Leicester 4-0 and Crystal Palace 2-1 in recent weeks and over 3.5 goals looks a good bet when they face Brentford.

Everton's James Tarkowski scored a spectacular injury-time volley to earn a 2-2 draw at home to leaders Liverpool, although manager David Moyes was less pleased with Saturday's 2-2 against his former club Manchester United.

First-half goals from the resurgent Beto and Abdoulaye Doucoure put the Toffees in charge at Goodison, but they were unable to close out a fifth victory in six matches.

Despite their attacking injury problems, Everton are capable of contributing to an exciting match against Brentford, whose home fixtures have produced an average of 4.15 goals per game this term.

Thomas Frank's men have scored 12 goals in their four straight away wins at Southampton, Palace, West Ham and Leicester and their recent home results include a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal and a 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Unlike Moyes, Frank has a wealth of attacking options, with Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa and Kevin Schade all in great goalscoring form, meaning that their clash with Everton could be more open than the betting suggests.
