Brentford vs Aston Villa predictions: Villa face tough Bees test

&w=707&quality=100)
- Brentford have scored the most home goals in the Premier League this season with 30
- Aston Villa have kept one clean sheet in their last 12 fixtures
- Recommended bet: Over 1.5 Brentford goals
Two sides in mid-table Premier League positions clash when Brentford entertain Aston Villa at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.
Villa are four points ahead of the Bees, albeit having played one game more, but Brentford have enjoyed some decent results in the top flight recently, winning away to West Ham and Leicester.
They return to their home ground this weekend, having hosted some of the division's strongest sides recently, and will be eager to get back to winning ways on their own patch.
Villa, meanwhile, will hope that their European involvement does not impact their league duties given they were in action against Club Brugge in the Champions League on Tuesday, winning 3-1 in Belgium.
Team news
Brentford are set to be without Rico Henry, Sepp van den Berg, Aaron Hickey, Igor, Josh Dasilva and Gustavo Nunes for the visit of Villa.
Christian Norgaard and Mathias Jensen could, however, be involved.
The away side, meanwhile, should only be missing midfield pair Ross Barkley and Amadou Onana.
Pau Torres has recently returned from injury but is unlikely to be risked in the starting lineup.
The stats
Aston Villa have conceded in 11 of their last 12 matches in all competitions, shipping at least two goals in five of those fixtures.
&w=707&quality=100)
Brentford have lost just one of their last five Premier League fixtures, scoring eight times in the process.
Aston Villa have lost three of their last four matches in all competitions.
Bryan Mbeumo has been in excellent form in the Premier League, scoring 15 times in 27 appearances this season.
Prediction
Brentford's terrific home record in the Premier League has fallen by the wayside since the turn of the year but they can restore some confidence against Aston Villa at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Thomas Frank's men were outstanding at home in the early stages of the season but it seems that could have had more to do with the opponents they were facing than anything else.
Recent home assignments have been much tougher and the Bees have failed to win any of their last six league fixtures at the Gtech Community Stadium.
In that sequence they have faced Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool, though, so it is best not to read too much into that.
Villa are also tough opponents but they have been on the slide of late, losing their last Premier League away fixture 4-1 against Crystal Palace and winning just one of their last seven top-flight games.
With Pau Torres sidelined, they have struggled at the back and Brentford are one of the most impressive attacking units on their own turf, so they could be worth a bet to score at least two goals in this Saturday showdown.
