Manchester United have one foot in the Europa League final after Thursday's 3-0 first-leg victory away to Athletic Bilbao.

That competition is the clear priority for United manager Ruben Amorim, whose side kick off the weekend in 14th place in the Premier League.

They are 10 points behind Sunday's hosts Brentford, who are aiming to complete a hat-trick of league victories after beating Brighton 4-2 and Nottingham Forest 2-0 in their last two outings.

Team news

Brentford are missing the injured Vitaly Janelt, Joshua Dasilva and Fabio Carvalho. Aaron Hickey and Igor Thiago have returned to training but may not be rushed back to first-team action.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is likely to rest players with an eye on next week's Europa League semi-final second leg against Athletic Bilbao.

Lisandro Martinez, Diogo Dalot, Joshua Zirkzee, Ayden Heaven and Toby Collyer are sidelined for the Red Devils but fit-again Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt are pushing for starts.

Prediction

Manchester United have boosted their chances of ending a difficult season by winning the Europa League but they look set for a 16th Premier League defeat of the campaign.

United are unlikely to be at full strength for their clash with Brentford, who are finishing the season strongly under Thomas Frank.

The Bees eased to a 4-2 home win over Brighton last weekend before denting Nottingham Forest's top-five hopes with a 2-0 victory at the City Ground on Thursday.

They have been competing well against some tough opponents recently and should be backed to make a fast start on Sunday.

United's only league wins in their last 11 games came against relegated Ipswich and Leicester and they needed a 96th-minute Rasmus Hojlund goal to pinch a draw at Bournemouth last weekend.

Brentford's recent results include draws with Arsenal and Chelsea, a 2-1 win at Bournemouth and an unfortunate 2-1 defeat at in-form Newcastle.

The Bees lost 2-1 at Old Trafford in October but they were 1-0 up at half-time and may well take charge of Sunday's game in the first 45 minutes.
