Draw

You could not get a more mid-table match-up in the Premier League than 10th versus 11th but Brentford and Brighton should produce a close contest when they meet at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.

The visiting Seagulls are the team in the top half of the table at present, but the Bees can close to within two points if they can end their frustrating winless run in front of their own fans.

Brentford have not won at home since December but they held Chelsea to a goalless draw in their last match in west London before heading across town to take an excellent point from a 1-1 draw with Arsenal last weekend.

Brighton have had a tough time so far in April and come in on a five-match winless run after a disappointing 2-2 draw with Championship-bound Leicester at the Amex Stadium last weekend.

The teams played out a goalless game in East Sussex in December and there may not be much between them in the return fixture either.

Team news

Brentford are still without Fabio Carvalho (shoulder), Igor Thiago (knee) and Josh Dasilva (knee), but winger Gustavo Nunes could feature again after making a long-awaited club debut as a sub at Arsenal.

Aaron Hickey is also in contention to return from injury.

Brighton are missing Tariq Lamptey (ankle), James Milner (thigh), Jason Steele (shoulder), Adam Webster (thigh), Ferdi Kadioglu (toe), Georginio Rutter (ankle) and Igor Julio (thigh), while Joel Veltman (ankle) and Kaoru Mitoma (heel) are doubts.

Defender Jan Paul van Hecke can return from suspension after his red card against Crystal Palace.

The stats

Thomas Frank's Brentford have not won any of their last nine home games in all competitions
Thomas Frank's Brentford have not won any of their last nine home games in all competitions

Brentford have not won any of their last eight home games.

The Bees have drawn three of their last six matches.

Four of Brentford's last six games have produced under 2.5 goals.

The Bees have failed to score in four of their last five home fixtures.

Brighton have conceded seven goals in their last three matches.

Five of Brighton's last six matches have featured at least three goals.

Three of the teams' last four meetings have been draws.

Prediction

The draw is the biggest price of the three options in the match market for this game but it looks the best value by some distance.

Brentford have not won at home since the turn of the year and have scored more than once in only one of their last six outings.

Even so, the Bees are in better form than the Seagulls, having given a good account of themselves in their last two matches against Chelsea and Arsenal.

Brighton have been struggling and a 2-2 home draw with struggling Leicester was a poor result but they still have the quality to be competitive on the road at Brentford.

These teams have shared the spoils in three of their last four meetings and both may have to settle for a point once again.
