Borussia Dortmund and Celtic both made impressive starts to their Champions League campaigns and could play out a cracker on Tuesday.

Dortmund took time to get going but eventually saw off Club Brugge 3-0, while it was a classic European night at Parkhead, as the Bhoys bashed Slovan Bratislava 5-1.

After big wins last time out – Der BVB winning their derby with Bochum 4-2 on Friday before Brendan Rodgers' side won 6-0 at St Johnstone – confidence is sure to be high.

It looks set to be an open game at the Westfalenstadion and goals should be on the agenda.

Team news

Marcel Sabitzer could return for Dortmund after missing Friday's match due to a groin issue, but Gio Reyna remains sidelined with a similar issue.

Boss Nuri Sahin could rotate, with the likes of Niclas Sule, Donyell Malen and Felix Nmecha pushing for starts, but summer arrival Serhou Guirassy is almost guaranteed to be in the run-on side after hitting the ground running after recovering from a knee injury.

Celtic central defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is a doubt after missing the game at St Johnstone with a foot injury and Auston Trusty is again primed to deputise.

The visitors should have an otherwise fit squad to select from.

The stats

Borussia Dortmund's last four games have seen three or more goals – beating Heidenheim and Bochum 4-2, winning 3-0 at Club Brugge and losing 5-1 at Stuttgart.

Celtic's last three games have featured six or more goals – defeating Slovan Bratislava 5-1, Falkirk 5-2 and St Johnstone 6-0.

However, the Bhoys have won only once away from home in the Champions League's group stage/league phase since 2013, beating Anderlecht 3-0 in September 2017.

Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy has scored four times in his last three games.

Prediction

Last season's beaten Champions League finalists Dortmund underwent a makeover during the summer, with key players leaving and Nuri Sahin replacing Edin Terzic as head coach after previously serving as his predecessor's assistant.

They have been more direct under Sahin and have found their scoring touch, which could spell bad news for the Bhoys.

However, they too have been in the goals and will have taken so much confidence from their win over Slovan and the new-look format looks to benefit them.

The Scottish champions will genuinely believe they can make the knockout stages and can contribute to a fantastic game in Germany.
