Ben White has signed a new long-term deal with Arsenal — much to the delight of boss Mikel Arteta.

Since joining the Gunners from Brighton in July 2021, White has established himself as a regular fixture in Arteta's side having converted from centre-back to right-back.

And Arteta is pleased the England international, 26, will be at the Emirates for some time to come.

He told the club's official website: "It's great news that Ben is committing his future to the club.

"He is a key player for us, a top professional with a winning mentality and one of the guys who leads by example every day.

"Ben's ability, determination and positive attitude are so important but he is also a great character and human being.

"We all look forward to continue working with Ben in the coming years."

Arsenal sporting director Edu added: "We are so happy to have completed a new long-term contract with Ben.

"Since Ben joined us, his contribution and commitment have been of such high quality.

"Our supporters love him, we love him and we look forward to enjoying Ben's performances with us for years to come."

After coming through Brighton's youth system, White left the Amex in a £50million deal as he traded the South Coast for North London.

He has netted twice in 39 appearances across all competitions this season and remains one of Arteta's unsung heroes.

The versatile defender said: "Just coming into work every day for a club like Arsenal is enough to inspire me.

"You have to be honest to yourself, come into training every day and become a better version of yourself. Just focus on yourself, don't judge yourself by other people's standards, be yourself.

"I'm here for what I can bring to the team — and that's what I need to work on every day."

The Gunners are next in action after the international break when they head to Premier League leaders Manchester City on March 31.
