Atletico Madrid to win

Atletico Madrid's season is coming to an end with them out of contention for the title but they still have to make sure of finishing third behind Barcelona and Real Madrid and can complete their home fixtures with a victory over Real Betis.

Atleti gave hope to fourth-placed Athletic Bilbao when losing 2-0 at Osasuna on Thursday, but their home form has been strong all season and they have lost only once in 18 league matches at the Metropolitano Stadium.

Real Betis have the Conference League final against Chelsea to look forward to after their league campaign is complete and they are not yet out of the running for a Champions League place, although they are five points behind fifth-placed Villarreal with two games remaining.

Manuel Pellegrini's team have drawn back-to-back league games since their extra-time success against Fiorentina in the Conference League semi-finals but they held on for a 1-0 win over Atletico in the teams' first league meeting of the season in October.

Team news

Both managers are likely to make changes to their line-ups after playing on Thursday.

Atletico should be able to field a strong line-up, with Antoine Griezmann, Conor Gallagher, Samuel Lino, Clement Lenglet and Nahuel Molina all in contention for places, with Alexander Sorloth one of the players who could make way.

Real Betis will be without Ezequiel Avila and Diego Llorente, who both have hamstring injuries, while Hector Bellerin, Marc Roca and Youssouf Sabaly are other injury concerns, with Aitor Ruibal in contention to start.

There have been over 2.5 goals in six of Real Betis' last seven matches.

Atletico have won 13 of their 18 home league games this season.

Atletico have won their last three home fixtures, scoring 11 goals in the process.

Both teams have scored in Real Betis' last nine matches.

Atleti have won their last six home games against Real Betis.

Betis have scored only one goal in their last eight visits to the Metropolitano.

Prediction

Atletico Madrid may seem to lack an element of motivation now they are out of title contention in Spain but securing third place is still a worthwhile target and they can beat Real Betis in their final home match of the campaign.

Atleti's weaker recent results have all come on the road, suffering defeats at Osasuna and Las Palmas as well as being held to a goalless draw at Alaves.

They have not been slacking off in front of their own fans, though, with their last three home results being a 4-2 victory over Valladolid and convincing 3-0 and 4-0 wins over Rayo Vallecano and Real Sociedad respectively.

Atleti will also want to avoid Betis completing a double over them after their 1-0 home success in October, when Real never let go of the lead gifted to them by a fourth-minute own goal.

With goals flying in during Betis's recent matches, there could be more scoring in this encounter but the home team are fancied to come out on top.
