Aston Villa came from behind to see off West Ham 3-2 and make it four straight wins in the Women’s Super League.
After four goals in an action-packed first half, Chasity Grant stepped forward with the winner nine minutes after the restart at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.
The result continues Villa’s impressive recent form, with the ninth-placed side seeing off Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham, and takes them within just two points of fifth.
The visitors took the lead through Ebony Salmon’s early finish into the bottom corner only to surrender their advantage when Shekiera Martinez headed home her 10th of the season.
West Ham went ahead in 34th minute when Riko Ueki conjured a smart finish, lifting the ball over Sabrina D’Angelo in the Villa goal and rolling into an open net.
They let their opponents back in carelessly just three minutes later, Rachel Daly nabbing a poor back pass from Katrina Gorry and finishing calmly.
The breakneck speed slowed in the second half and the winner went to Natalia Arroyo’s side, Lucy Parker providing the long pass for Grant to fire a powerful shot past Kinga Szemik.
West Ham had time to get back into the contest but were unable to grab another equaliser, ending their five-game unbeaten streak.
