&w=707&quality=100)
- Paris Saint-Germain claimed a 3-1 win in first leg of this Champions League quarter-final
- Aston Villa are unbeaten at home in the Champions League this season
- Recommended bet: Over 3.5 goals
Aston Villa have a mountain to climb after their 3-1 first-leg defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, but Unai Emery’s side have performed well in the competition, so all is not lost.
PSG, who have cruised to another Ligue 1 title, have fond memories of a shootout win over Liverpool on a recent trip to England and this looks likely to be another entertaining encounter.
Team news
Leon Bailey is on the verge of returning for Villa after injury and, apart from the winger, manager Unai Emery has a fully fit squad from which to choose.
Meanwhile, Luis Enrique’s visitors will be boosted by defender Marquinhos’ availability after he was suspended for the first leg.
The stats
Seven of Villa’s last eight games have featured at least three goals and they have won four and drawn one of their five Champions League games at Villa Park this season.
Paris Saint-Germain have won 17 of their last 18 matches and over 2.5 goals was a winning bet in six of PSG’s last eight Champions League games.
Luis Enrique’s side have scored 25 goals in their last six away matches and both teams have scored in 10 of the Parisians’ last 15 games on the road.

Prediction
Villa have probably exceeded expectations in reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League, but they should not be completely discounted when they look to overturn a 3-1 first-leg deficit in their last-eight clash with the Ligue 1 champions.
The French outfit are highly fancied to get their hands on European club football’s top prize for the first time after seeing off runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool in the previous round and they displayed their attacking talent in the first meeting with the Villans, with Desire Doue and Khvica Kvaratskhelia shining in goalscoring performances.
However, it should not be forgotten that Morgan Rogers had given Villa a surprise lead and the Midlanders have proved more than a match for Europe’s elite on their own patch this season, most memorably earning a victory in their opener against Bayern Munich.
While PSG have hit the heights lately, they took time to get going in the competition, losing at both Bayern and Arsenal, while also coming unstuck at home to Atletico Madrid.
So, with Villa looking to get back into the tie from the off, we could be treated to another memorable clash and just like last week’s encounter a match that features more than three goals.
