Barcelona have signed defender Andreas Christensen on a free following his departure from Chelsea.

The Denmark international, 26, was released from the Blues upon the expiry of his contract after 10 years in West London.

Having been widely tipped to join the Blaugrana, the Catalan giants have now confirmed his arrival.

He follows Antonio Rudiger in heading to Spain on a free transfer after the German joined Barca’s rivals Real Madrid.

Christensen racked up 161 appearances for the Blues after breaking into the senior team in 2013 and won the Champions League, Europa League, Club World Cup and Super Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge.

His arrival comes hot on the heels of AC Milan star Franck Kessie completing his free transfer earlier in the day.

Kessie, 25, has signed a four-year deal at the Camp Nou after helping Milan lift the Serie A trophy for the first time in a decade last term.

The midfielder's arrival at Barca could spell good news for Manchester United in their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong.
