Southend registered a second successive clean sheet in the National League following a goalless draw at Aldershot.
A last-ditch challenge from Shrimpers defender Adam Crowther prevented Jack Barham giving the hosts an early lead in a tight first half.
With both sides struggling to create clear chances, Shots goalkeeper Marcus Dewhurst turned away a header from Gus Scott-Morriss in the second period.
Southend, who won 1-0 at Rochdale on Saturday, finished the match by forcing a flurry of corners but were unable to find a breakthrough as an uneventful contest ended all square.
